Lydia has lived in Spain and Ireland. She picked up Spanish at an early age, thanks to a group of Mexican and Colombian friends with whom she was studying at the time. Since then, she has specialised in the language and holds an undergraduate degree in European Studies from Trinity College Dublin and a master's degree in Translation and Intercultural Mediation from Universidad de Salamanca. She not only mastered the language (with a top score in DELE C2), but also plans on continuing doctoral studies in audiovisual translation.
As a result of her years living, working and studying in Spain, Lydia has a fluent and natural Spanish, spoken with an authentic Castilian accent, and has developed a deep understanding of Spanish language, culture and customs. And while Spain is a second home, she has also been to Mexico and Colombia and is familiar with linguistic variants and different traditions there. She is a very passionate and lively teacher and has taught a wide variety of age groups – from 2 to 19 year-olds – in private classes and public schools, in both in Spain and Ireland since 2011.
Lydia believes that pronunciation emphasis from day one is the key to successful language learning, whether her students be infants or adults!
