Students know him better as Billy Sir.

Billy was born in Hong Kong but his family moved to Guatemala when he was only 4 yeas old.  There he studied high school and university (Universidad del Valle de Guatemala).  He was further educated in Canada where he graduated as a Bachelor in Applied Science from the University of British Columbia, and eventually completed a Master in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from Nebrija University in Madrid.

Before he became a full time Spanish teacher he was an engineer who prepared and reviewed contracts for projects in Latin America.  As a teacher, he had taught Spanish at several Band 1 secondary schools and at several universities in Hong Kong.  He is a former Chief DELE Examiner, qualified to examine all the levels of Spanish language (A1 to C2).

He has prepared a large number of students for Spanish public examinations in Hong Kong, among those the first generation of students who sat the Spanish IGCSE (2010) and DSE (2012) in Hong Kong.  To date, he is still the only teacher/tutor who holds the record of the highest number of HKDSE students scoring A's (5**), including some outstanding students.

Billy has mentored a large number of Spanish tutors in Hong Kong, providing advice on how to teach effectively and to become successful premium tutors.  He was the Expert Advisor of Spanish language curriculum for HKCAAVQ from 2009 to 2015.

He is currently the Managing Director of Spanish World HK, the only Spanish school accredited by Instituto Cervantes in Hong Kong.
